Over 160 Years Old! US Navy Bayonet, 30" Long in the Double Curve Yataghan Style Naval Bayonet, Made for the US Navy's Merrill Rifle Model M1862. RARE!

Beginning of manufacture for this Merrill Navy Saber Bayonet was in 1861 and end of manufacture was in 1865. The specimen below is dated 1861 on the ricasso of the blade and has serial number 6539 stamped on the grip. Blade is made of steel and is a ribbed grip made of cast brass. The bayonets secure and release rifle receiver spring works perfect. Has a fantastic aged brass patina.

Excellent Condition, Great Aged Patina. Perfect example of first manufacture of the US Navy Bayonet Yataghan Double Curve for the Naval Merrill Rifle. 30" total length, 25 1/8" blade. All cast brass ribbed grip with handsome aged patina, rifle-bayonet locking mechanism works. Markings: Stamped "6539" on grip and dated on ricasso 1861
