Very Large Size Flat Top Antique Trunk - #258
Another Very Affordable, Nice and Tight, Solid Antique All Wood Flat Top Trunk. Originally covered in canvas on the exterior and paper on the interior which when removed with a cleaning solution and then lightly sanded revealed the beautiful patina of 100+ year old wood! The outside heavy duty hardware was lightly sanded but still retaining much of the original black japanning used as a preservative in the 19th century. Two coats of Spar Varnish was applied for UV protection, wood preservation and hard surface sealer.

The two heavy duty front lid latches in perfect condition with built-in lid lifts! This restored trunk came out with a splendid silky and natural "chestnut" finish once the spar varnish was applied. Nicely done contrasting hardware and oak wood straps against the pine wood body. Working lock but no key. Handcrafted Lift Out Tray.
