HUGE 36x31x22 All Wood Dome Top, These Antique Trunks Were not manufactured much larger than this due to practical use and construction limitations of the time and era made

- Lots of Decorative Cast Iron Hardware, so with Pat dates of 1877

- Two RARE and Unique Original Liftout Trays: Top tray with covers and hinges folds up into the lid providing easy access to the inside of the trunk and to the second lift out tray whose bottom is cross-hatched with the original fabric

- Original Victorian Lithographs on inside lid of a boat/water scene, a young man/boy sitting on rock

- Manufacturers Label: S.A. Hummel Trunks 335 Market St Harrisburg (PA?)

- Hidden compartment in the lid!

- A persons name was found written in pencil under the paper on the bottom of the first lift out tray!!! John? Floln? It is handwritten in "old style" 19th century script so is hard to make out

- Appears that this will most likely be a non-working lock

- Due to the rarity of this size trunk and features we only have Three comparable trunks done in the past 6 years are #256 and #167

HUGE Dome Top Antique Trunk - #XXX
This Antique Trunk is currently in "Basic Restoration" where the original exterior leather has been removed, wood scrubbed with a bleach/water cleanser and then sanded. The interior was originally covered with a thin paper which was also removed, wood scrubbed and sanded. This trunk has a very unusual hidden pull down drawer in the lid with a cover. Huge original liftout tray and a second tray beneath that still with the original cross-hatched fabric. The dated hardware is currently undergoing restoration. Non-working Lock.
