Above is the British Royal Navy all copper official 40" long "rum pump or spirit pump" (Royal Navy p/n 53598) which consisted of a brass piston with wooden handle and leather washer which slid into the pump itself A Royal Navy copper Rum pump, used in the "Issue Room" to draw rum from the breaker or demijohn to the bulk rum measure for further mixing of 2 parts water, lime juice, and sugar to taste!

This particular rum pump was fully outfitted and restored just prior to July 31, 1970 by the British Royal Navy at the Gosport Naval Base Victualing Yard which was responsible for issuing all rum and equipment. This rum pump came with the rarely found proper documentation, see below.
