RARE! Dated 1957! Authentic Soviet Navy Serving Platter, over 11" wide handle-to-handle with initials VMF used in the Officer's Wardroom. Backstamped with manufacturer and date code of 1957.

This huge serving platter is 11" wide handle-to-handle. This is one of the most rarest pieces of either Russian Navy or Soviet Navy Dinnerware militaria to be had.

It is in absolute perfect museum quality condition and a prized piece of Cold War Soviet Naval Militaria. The Soviet Naval Officer who snagged this huge platter out of the Wardroom Officers Mess truly was a brave soul as back in 1957 it would have been the gulag for him if he would have been caught!

The bottom mark indicates that it was produced in 1957 by a well known russian porcelain manufacturer which produced dinnerware for the russian and soviet navy for over 70 years..

The rarity and uniqueness of Soviet or Russian Navy Dinnerware and Tableware in general and as marked cannot be overly stressed. The very nature of the post revolution Russian Navy and ex-Soviet Union's politcal and social structure was that everyone was considered to be of equal stature, including officer's and enlisted. However, reality has shown that even in the Soviet Union Peoples and Peasants Republic the Senior Officer's received special treatment, such as fine porcelain dinnerware!
