This is the rarest of the rare - a Shkalik copper measure! Holds a bit over 2oz, about the size of 1/2 Gill and known as a "Kosushka". Has a Germananic manufacturers name of "Boehmer" on the edge and another name, possibly Polish, but unreadable. Has the measure amount of "1/200" imprinted on it, and the date "1845" on either side of the Czarist Imperial Russian Double Headed Eagle Seal.
| Absolutely Beautiful and Well Marked with manufacturers name "Boehmer", liquid measure "1/200", dated "1845", was called a "kosushka", or translated as a "shot". Holds about 2 ounces or a 1/2 Gill naval measure. This certainly was the type of copper measure used to dole out vodka or rum to the 19th century Russian sailor. |
