RARE All Wood Small Dome Top Antique Trunk New Leather Handles, Original Lithograph, Working Lock and Key!

This Dome Top Trunk Originally Covered inside and out in paper was carefully removed revealing 100 to 125 Year Old Pine with a Fantastic aged Patina and Large Swirl Impressions of the Blade used to First Cut the Wood in the Saw Mill - Very Kewl!
The Pine Wood Body, Oak Wood Straps and All Hardware were Hand Sanded and Restored in a Light Brown Finnish. There was some Loss of Wood Along the Back Rim During a Previous Fix of the Rear Hinges, But Does Not Deter From the Beauty and Only Adds to the Character. With 3+ Coats of Spar Varnish Brings out all the Character of this Century Old Antique Trunk.

During Restoration the Original Lithograph was Saved and Left Intact! This Small Trunk Could Fit on a Desk as a "Strong Box", or Perhaps as a Jewelry Box in a Fine Boudouir, Perfect Wedding Gift To The Bride! #171

We all romanticize about the mystique of these antique steamer trunks. The possible owners and travels that each steamer trunk has taken, along with the high level of detailed craftsmanship in the original production of each and every steamer trunk with that individualized character giving both intrinsic and non-intrinsic value.

However the truth of the matter is that the majority of these steamer trunks were made towards the middle to end of the 19th century at the beginning of the industrial revolution here in America when there were no child labor laws or protections. This rare photo clearly illustrates at least 3 generations of owners and workers, ages appearing to range from pre-teen/adolescent, teens/early adult, through middle to old age!
