Large RARE Jenny Lind Dome Top Trunk. VERY RARE! Few and Far Between Large Size ca 1860's Dome Top with the classic Jenny Lind hour glass style and large decorative buttons! Normally Jenny Lind antique trunks are substantially smaller with most only being 22" long, but not this one at a whopping 30"! As traditional to the high-end expensive Jenny Lind trunks this one was also originally covered in hand tooled leather (see original before restoration photo) as were all Jenny Lind trunks. Also unique to this particular Jenny Lind are the large number of oak straps (6 total) and their placement; many of these trunks only had one or two oak straps.

This exterior leather covering and the interior paper lining were meticulously removed, scrubbed with a bleach/water solution to sanitize and remove the adhering glue, then hand sanded to reveal the beautiful character of the wood grain and rich patina which only 100+ year old wood can achieve. The hardware was lightly sanded to remove existing grime and the japaning (see before photo), and then restored in a brass finish or in a flat black. Non-working Lock, No Lift-out Tray, New Leather Handles and New Leather Securing Straps were added, Four Working Wheels.
