U.S. Navy Large White Graniteware Milk or Water Pitcher is a standard water or milk pitcher used aboard both ship and shore Medical Facilities and Units. The white graniteware navy pitchers were used exclusively by the Navy Medical Department so as to ensure these items were washed clean and free of food, blood or other biological stuff which could cause infection.

The bottom of these navy pitchers were marked MD USN for Medical Department, United States Navy.

The typical enlisted ladles consisted of graniteware, enamelware, aluminum and stainless steel used for breakfast, lunch and dinner for milk, water and the infamous bug juice.
